Joan Robinson

Joan Marie Robinson was called to eternal rest on Sunday August 31, 2014. Joan was born on August 16, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Samuel and Daisy Handy. She was a graduate Franklin K High School in Brooklyn, NY. Joan worked as a Secretary for the Department of Children and Families in Manhattan, and bus driver for the Nassau County School District in Freeport, N.Y. Joan and her family later moved to Ocala, FL. in 1981.

She was married to the late Harry Lee Robinson for 53 years; to this union they had three children. Joan enjoyed traveling but most of all she loved music. Joan was a dedicated musician and passed on this gift to all of her children and grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memories: loving & devoted children: Jerome Robinson (Georgia), Steven Daniel Robinson (Barbara), and Darren E. Robinson (Rashunda); grandchildren: Christina Delhall (Leo), Andrea Robinson, Steven Robinson, Jr., Terry "TJ" Smith, Aracrli Robinson, Daniyah Robinson, Destiny Robinson, Melvin Felicien (Danielle) , Michael Felicien (Nino), and Macy Rivera (Hector); brother: Charles Handy; Godchildren: Edgar Chisholm, Melinda Crocker, & Clifford Kyler; brother-in-law: Calvin Brown (Renee); nephew: Eric Clemons-Brown (Crystal); special cousins: (FarmVille, Va.) Charilda, Hilda, Mary, Gammy, Ina and Otis Hill, (St. Augustine, Fl.) Sheila, Joyce, Pam, Timothy; and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday September 5, 2014 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at The New Cunningham Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11:00 am at the New St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. T.L Brooks, Pastor.
