Obituary

Essie Mae Williams Croskey was born on August 18, 1919 in Ocala (Santos), Florida to the parents of S.W. Williams and Eva McCormick. 

She attended Marion County Public Schools and accepted Christ at an early age. She joined Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and served in the choir and other areas as needed until her health began to fail.  Essie was a loving daughter and caregiver to her mother during illness until death.  She was joined in matrimony to Robert Croskey but their life journey led them on separate paths.

Essie was employed in several companies in the Ocala area including the Marion County School Board where she served as a Food Service Worker and finally retiring from Ocala Saw and Mill.  She was a hard worker at whatever job she performed.

She enjoyed going fishing, singing old gospel songs, sharing memories of “years gone past”, cooking and reading the Bible until she was no longer able.

Essie transitioned from this earthy journey on Saturday, October 31, 2015.  She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings including two devoted brothers, Benny Pinkney and Griffin McCormick and a loving cousin, Victoria Damon.

Left to remember her:  Devoted nieces and caregiver, Bennie (Joe) Simpkins, Levonia Pinkney, Queen (Cornell, Sr.) Graham; nieces and nephews; special cousin, Eliza Damon; cousins and friends.
