Corine Terry Shelton peacefully entered eternal rest and transitioned to be with the Lord at ECW, Lucille Coates House on May 7, 2026.
Corine Terry Shelton was born on July 25,1935 in Lake City, Florida to Charlie Fennell, and Leonia Wilson Fennell. She was the oldest daughter of ten children. Growing up on a farm, Corine learned the value of hard work at an early age.
At a young age, Corine attended New Hope Baptist Church and later Union AME Church with her mother in Scrubtown, Florida. Later in life, she attended St Paul AME Church in Ocala, Florida where she sang in the choir and served on the Usher board. In 1970, Corine joined Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the Late Reverend Eugene Broxton. During her years at Shady Grove Church, Corine was an active member of the choir, served on the Women’s mission ministry, attended Sunday school faithfully and was one of the mothers of the Church.
Corine’s favorite verse is Matthew 7:12 “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”-She truly lived by those words and was a blessing to everyone whom she encountered. She prepared meals for the sick, opened her home to those who needed a place to stay, transported those who were sick to the doctor or hospital, and faithfully prayed for all who sought comfort and support.
Corine took pride in caring for her home. She planted and maintained her garden, mowed her own lawn, cleaned her own gutters, and kept an impeccably clean home. She often said that she would continue to do these things as long as God gave her breath and strength.
Corine is preceded in death by her parents; Charlie and Leonia Fennell, her husbands; Willie Anderson, Eddie Shelton and Willie Terry, her siblings; Virginia Fennell, Charlene Thomas, Morris Fennell, Carl Fennell, Albert Fennell, Isaac Fennell, Lois Shade, Joseph Fennell, Aretha Turner, Marion Fennell; and her daughter; Cynthia Drummer.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, James and Willie Anderson; five grandchildren, Antonio Anderson, Dwan Anderson, Essence Anderson and John-John Walker, Terrence Mackey; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren, one sister; Betty Broom ( David); one brother, Gus Fennell; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Corine was a blessing to many and a beautiful messenger of God’s Agape love.
